Installation

Waste-fired factory with increased emission and environmental requirements.

Fuel

Mixture of seed and grain as well as feedstuff residue, dust, chaff, whole grain and pressed grain.


Boiler
Danstoker Multimiser No. 19, which is a 5-pass hot-water boiler with a 2 MW output.

The boiler was installed in 2001.


AEROVIT
The problematic fuel meant that the boiler needed to be cleaned manually for every 14 days of operation because of heavy deposits in the tube passes. The decision was consequently made to retrofit the AEROVIT system in December 2002.

Manual cleaning before,

26 times annually.

Manual cleaning, eight hours every 14 days. Downtime: 24 hours for each boiler cleaning.

Manual cleaning after,

4 times annually.

After installation of AEROVIT: Four times annually, 90 minutes each.
Downtime per year

Without AEROVIT: 26 x 24 hours =   624 operating hours.
With AEROVIT: 4 x 24 hours =           96 operating hours.
Gained operating time                     528 operating hours ~ saving of 84.6%.

Working hours, cleaning Without AEROVIT: 26 x 8 hours =        208 working hours.
With AEROVIT: 1.5 x 4 hours =               6 working hours.
Available working hours:                     202 working hours ~ saving of 97.1%.
Annual efficiency AEROVIT increases the annual efficiency of the installation by approx. 8 %.
Valuation

By continual full load: 528 gained operating hours x a sales price of 200 DKK/MWh results in: 528 h x 200 DKK/MWh x 2 MWh = 211.200 DKK, moreover savings of 202 h x 200 DKK = 40.400 DKK (overall savings 251.600 DKK).
Further to this is the improved efficiency.

Investment It cost 170.000 DKK to install the AEROVIT system.
Payback time The investment is paid back in approx. six months.
 

Bo Vernegren, Operating Manager

at DLG, says,

"The AEROVIT soot-blowing system has provided DLG with definite improvements.

The boiler operating time has improved significantly, and the man hour costs have been reduced correspondingly.

At the same time, the boiler capacity has increased drastically, in particular during the last period before each cleaning.

After having installed the AEROVIT soot-blowing system we have seen the installation working with a stable low pressure and with optimum flue gas cooling.

It is an important factor for the impact that the soot-blowers work at 8 bar. We are now able to decide for ourselves when the boiler installation should be taken out of operation for inspection and service."
